SUMMARY:Delaware River Frack Ban Coalition Press Conference
DESCRIPTION:Defend the Delaware River from Fracking!\nJoin us on September 2 at the DRBC meeting to support the frack ban! Green Amendments For The Generations will be speaking at this press event regarding the implications of the Pennsylvania and New York Green Amendments on the Delaware River Frack Ban. \nOur coalition fought back last month when fracking interests tried to pass federal legislation to overturn the ban on fracking in the Delaware River Watershed. We prevailed and the ban is still in place but efforts to undo that protection are still underway. \nPlease join us to stand for the frack ban at the DRBC’s annual in-person meeting on September 2! RSVP here! \nWhat: Press Conference outside of DRBC meeting with community support \nWhere: Outside of the Washington Crossing State Park Visitor Center\, 1112 River Road\, Washington Crossing\, PA 18977 \nWhen: Wednesday\, September 2\, 11:30 am – 12 noon \nWho: The Delaware River Frack Ban Coalition organizations\, including Berks Gas Truth\, Catskill Mountainkeeper\, Damascus Citizens for Sustainability\, Delaware Riverkeeper Network\, Environment New Jersey\, Food and Water Watch\, and Green Amendments for the Generations. \nWhy: Defending the ban on fracking against all attackers; standing with the DRBC’s ban \nThe Delaware River Basin has been protected from the ravages of fracking experienced by communities across Pennsylvania and our nation since 2010\, protecting the drinking water for communities in New York\, New Jersey\, Pennsylvania and Delaware and defending our environment from fracking’s devastating damages. But the fracking industry and their proponents are not going to give up their craving to extract fossil gas from beneath our feet and they have vowed to wrestle control away from the Delaware River Basin Commission to do just that. We will never let that happen! The Commissioners representing Pennsylvania and New York have an obligation under their state’s Green Amendments to uphold the environmental rights of their residents\, and upholding the ban is an opportunity to fulfill these duties. \nLet’s show them we are pledged to defend the frack ban no matter how they attack us! Please join us at the DRBC’s meeting to show community support at the press conference! \nRSVP here
