(Hint: Start thinking about your favorite forest creatures!)
As a THANK YOU to all of our members who play the trivia game, we will send you an exclusive sticker featuring the Green Pixie. →

Legal Victory in ICE Warehouse Filing

The Pennsylvania Environmental Hearing Board (EHB) has granted intervention to Green Amendments For The Generations and our sister organization, Delaware Riverkeeper Network, to join the legal action between the Department of Homeland Security and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (DHS ICE) and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania’s Department of Environmental Protection (PADEP) regarding the federal agency’s efforts to operate two former warehouses as immigrant detention facilities. Through our intervention, we hope to ensure the environment, communities and constitutional environmental rights are fully represented and protected in DHS ICE’s stated plan to detain up to 9,000 people in the two facilities located in Berks and Schuylkill Counties despite the documented harms that doing so could have for our communities, our environment, water resources and rivers.
Read more about the victory here. See the EHB’s full order here.

Maine Reboot Recap
Our Maine Green Amendment effort is getting a reboot! This month, we hosted a successful opening webinar with Maine Coalition leaders and legislative champions. We had a rich discussion on the founding of the Maine movement and where we’re headed next, as well as the values of a Maine Green Amendment and the language currently under consideration. Thank you to all of the environmental advocates who joined us and put forth great ideas for discussion, strategy, and the proposed language!
From this event, we have established a nice group looking to get together to plan next steps for outreach and engagement. If you are from Maine and want to join the effort in a more engaged way, please email us at maya@forthegenerations.org with the subject line “Maine Reboot” expressing interest!
If you have not yet signed up for the Maine community on our Action Platform, be sure to do so. We are hoping to build up that online community with Mainers who want to stay up to speed and engaged with the effort. You can join here.
Michigan Talks Recap
The Michigan Green Amendment Coalition has been buzzing with excitement this month! Our Coalition leaders and legislative champions have connected with communities all across the state at various events, from a discussion with the state Sierra Club, to networking at the MICAN Annual Climate Summit, to participating in the Michigan People’s Hearing, to a live talk before the Rural Caucus at their annual summit.
We appreciate our dedicated Coalition members for helping us to secure these essential opportunities to connect with Michigan communities. We can’t wait for even more events to come.

Data Center Opportunity for Pennsylvanians
From Pennsylvania? Threatened by a data center or worried that one day you will be?
PA State Rep. Jamie Walsh has proposed PA House Bill 2496 that will allow municipalities to put in place a 180-day moratorium on data centers while they work on their ordinances & understanding the issue. Rep. Walsh rightly cites the Pennsylvania Green Amendment as a foundation for this proposed legislation.
Time is of the essence. The bill has passed the House—but it needs to pass the Senate.
This Senate vote has to happen before the Senate votes on the budget bill. Once the Senate votes on the budget, legislators will head home for the summer and HB 2496 will languish as more and more data centers are proposed.
Call your PA Senator and urge them to call for an immediate vote on HB 2496. And that once the vote is called, they must vote yes. Please call your PA Senator today to help uplift our constitutional environmental rights guaranteed under the PA Green Amendment!
